Opening Hours and Admission

Bamburgh Castle is open year-round, with operating hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (winter hours 10 AM – 4 PM, last admission 3 PM from November 1 to February 1). General admission prices are as follows:

Group Bookings

For group bookings, a completed booking form is required, which can be obtained by emailing administrator@bamburghcastle.com. The castle offers one free adult place for every twelve pupils, with additional adult tickets priced at £15.00. All pupils aged 5-16 are charged at £3.50, and the castle is not suitable for groups of under 5’s.

Accessibility

The castle has a steep incline access road, but a new shuttle service is in operation for visitors with reduced mobility. The grounds are accessible for wheelchair users, although some paths have steep inclines. Disabled admission is £12.50 with free access for carers.

Dogs and Prams/Pushchairs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Bamburgh Castle, but must be kept on a short lead and accompanied at all times. Only assistance dogs are permitted in the State Rooms, Clock Tower Café, and Armstrong and Aviation Museum.

Prams and pushchairs are not permitted in the State Rooms, so it is recommended to bring a baby carrier. Hippy chicks are available to borrow.

Food and Drink

The castle offers a beautiful new Clock Tower Café and Tack Room Takeaway, which use the best fresh, local ingredients to offer a delicious selection of hot and cold food for you to enjoy inside or in the magnificent grounds. From freshly made sandwiches, hearty soups, and tasty bakery wares to delectable homemade cakes made to traditional recipes, there’s plenty of outdoor seating areas for you to relax and take in the views while enjoying something delicious to eat.

Parking and Payment

The castle has a private car park which is accessible by following the parking signs and driving up the hill to the castle. The car park opposite the castle is owned by Northumberland County Council.

Bamburgh Castle is a cash-free site, and only accepts card payments in the ticket office, gift shop, and tea room.
